Frequently Asked Questions
How does this work?
We built a custom GPT that answers your prompts from the perspective of the book: Good Personal Decisions: How We Make Them and Who Gets to Decide by Philip Kahn.
Every prompt returns two sections:
1 – Answer informed by the book Good Personal Decisions.
2 – Generic ChatGPT answer: Analyzes the decision using general reasoning, without reference to the book.
This is built on top of ChatGPT from OpenAI using GPT Builder. This custom GPT loads the full text of the book from a private GPT data area (a copyrighted source that no other party may use without express written permission). In this way, the book guides answers to your prompt. If a quotation is used, it must be a single sentence taken verbatim from the book. It will identify the chapter or concept a quotation comes from whenever possible.
Can this be done for other books?
Absolutely! The custom GPT mechanism allows perspectives from specified sources to guide answers to chatGPT prompts. When those sources are copyrighted, like Good Personal Decisions, the copyright holder has exclusive rights to build a GPT like this; others must seek the copyright holder’s exclusive permission.
For example, click here for a custom GPT from the perspective of the works of William Shakespeare (based upon The Complete Works of William Shakespeare). So you can see how the Bard’s ideas relate to your prompts, and issues of life, love, and loss.
Your chats are private
When you open our custom GPT, it runs in your environment. It has been preconfigured to answer in a particular way. No one outside of OpenAI has access to anything you discuss in the chat. Click for OpenAI’s privacy policy for ChatGPT.
